Church Service

Here is a post about the church service last Sunday for those who want to know--Debbie :). This church service is considered a village service because we went to Bukeeka. The church is actually at the Fountain of Hope School. They have three classrooms in one long building with tarp and half walls seperating them, so for church they take away the seperations. This church is called the True Worship Center and the Pastor is Robert (the founder of Fountain of Hope). When we got there, the church service had already started, so I don't know how long it had been from when they started. We got there a little after ten. Since we were the visitors, they pulled us to the front of the church, and we sat facing the congregation. This building was packed full with people. They had probably a 100 or more people there. After we were seated, Pastor Robert had Paul introduce the team. Nakato then shared her testimony with church, followed by Paul who continued the story. After all of this, the choir came up and sang a song. After this Pastor Robert came up and gave his sermon. Forget Pastor Brad's tweny minuter sermons, Pastor Robert preached for close to forty-five minutes. As Cassie mentioned earlier, it was about worrying, which fit not only the culture, but Cassie and I as well. After the sermon, we prayed and church was dismissed. I have a feeling that the church service was cut short because we had to be ready for the tourney by noon (which didn't happen), so we were only in the service for about an hour and half. It was a great first service in Uganda, and I know Cassie and I are looking forward to more.
