The Well Project At Bukeeka

The project at Bukeeka is coming along well. Of course there are some challenges, but they are making progress. Some of the challenges have been that the generator wasn't able to handle the welder and it blew out a capacitor. Today they had to find another generator to rent that would handle welding. When they found one, the company wanted to send a man out with it to make sure it was used correctly. Finding the parts they needed was also a challenge. Nothing goes fast or smooth here. They have been trying to thread pipe and they were very frustrated due to the fact that the pipe kept crushing. These men are preparing the ditch to bury pipe for water to the school kitchen.

Patrick (right) welded for us last year when we were working on desks. Someone else had done the welding on the tower previously, but did not do the job properly. Patrick came to do some reinforcing. The men were very happy to see him, since he does quality work.

This is a picture of the men at the supply store making a parts list to order for the next day. This is quite an interesting task. They will tell you they have the part you are looking for and then send someone down the street to buy it somewhere else if you ask to see it.

The man in the picture with Justin, Robert and Don is Dennis the plumber. They are standing in front of his plumbing shop and getting ready to help them place the order for the parts.

The progress includes plumbing up all the water taps so that people can fill their jerry cans for the village, the school and the school kitchen. It was a long day for the men and they were very tired. They left at 7 a.m. and didn't get back until 7:15 p.m. Tomorrows schedule will be much the same.
