A Fun Day

Saturday after the men had finished their project in Bukeeka, we decided it was time for a day off. We decided we would drive to see the baboons. It was about a two hour drive and it was almost to the border of Kenya. We stopped in a small village and Paul bought several bunches of bananas to feed the baboons. He told us he would lay the bananas on the dash of the taxi and when the baboons saw them, we might have an interesting time if they tried to get in to get the bananas. As we drove through the area where the baboons were, we only saw two to start with. Our first encounter was amazing. One of them was very big and very dominate. He was so aggressive and kept running the other one off. We gave him a few bananas and then decided to drive on to see if we could see anymore. We were beginning to think we were out of luck and turned around to start heading back when we started noticing that they were coming out of the bushes. Lots of them. We stopped the taxi and got out. We could not believe how they would just come right up to you, some taking bananas right out of your hand. It was well worth the long hot drive to enjoy nature at it's finest.
